There’s lots of benefits to remote catalog work when you’re in the “Contact Sheet” portion of the workflow before you do the heavy edits on the keepers. A picture doesn’t have to hold up to a full 40×60 print or be art gallery worthy if you’re posting it to social media. But if that gorgeous shot your just took gets viral traction and more clients looking at your work while you’re still out creating it is a huge boost to your brand in this internet age. Have it save to separate folders for each shoot. Auto create a collection of each shoot if I want to.

I have one catalog for the entire year and the shoots are grouped in collections. C1 supports sessions, versus catalogs, although I thought that a session was similar to a catalog except that you can set it up to automate some of the tasks for you, such as folders for different shoots, but otherwise employed a similar catalog-like method of tracking and managing files.

Although perhaps C1 doesn’t need to “ingest” the file after it is shot. LR I think ingests the file as you would during import which may slow things down. I don’t think the differences are that big. Some people just don’t care for the LR experience, but I think at a lower-level both are more similar than they are different.

It’s usually the UI and the way the different software handle editing and to an extent, the math behind the scenes that’s used. For me, LR’s tethering is more than plenty and I think they have perhaps tweaked it I haven’t used it that much in the past 2 years so I can’t recall the major differences over that time, if there were any between versions of LRC.

With regards to file management, currently you can edit on the go with the iPad and send to your desktop when you get home. We also understand your needs for working in the cloud. Using it on the iPhone itself, not sure, probably less useful than a tablet version though due to the screen size.

Back in , I could Bluetooth a mouse and keyboard to my Galaxy S5, then use the proffered HDMI adapter and it was a quite usable little desktop style device.
